My Background
Commercial life looks different from the inside. With over 25 years of experience spanning business consultancy, strategic change, programme management and accountancy, I have built that understanding across some of the most demanding environments in UK and international business – working at UK, EMEA and global level across professional services, deployment programmes and UK defence.
Since 2015 I have been an entrepreneur, building and leading my own ventures. That transition gave me something that corporate experience alone cannot: the lived reality of being the person accountable for everything, from strategy to cashflow to the decisions that keep you awake at night. It is that combination of institutional rigour and entrepreneurial responsibility that shapes how I work with clients today.
I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, a certified Project Management Professional, Prince2 practitioner, and hold qualifications including MTPI and MCSE. These are not decorative credentials. They represent decades of disciplined professional practice across finance, technology, systems and strategic delivery.
My Approach to AI: Governance First, Always
Most AI conversations in business start with the tool. I start with the risk, the boundary and the commercial intent. That order of thinking is not cautious – it is what separates AI that compounds performance from AI that compounds confusion.
My position is straightforward. AI should be introduced into a business with defined boundaries, clear governance and commercial intent. Technology deployed without those foundations does not create efficiency, it creates exposure. Every client I work with on AI integration leaves with a framework that protects their data, maintains human accountability at every decision point, and delivers measurable outcomes rather than impressive-sounding outputs.
I have completed over 60 hours of formal AI training resulting in a Level 3 qualification with the AI Advantage Academy, and hold the IBM Generative AI for Executives and Business Leaders Specialisation Certificate from Coursera and The Complete Claude Code & Claude Cowork Masterclass [2026]. I understand both the technical landscape and the commercial risk.
Working With SME Owners
I have worked directly with SME business owners as a coach and mentor, including through Enterprise Nation, where I helped founders and directors move forward with clarity and structure at critical points in their journey. That experience sits alongside my corporate background to give me a genuinely rounded perspective on what SME owners actually need – which is rarely more information, and almost always more structure, more focus and a clearer line between where they are and where they intend to be.
The client I remember most clearly came to me without a coherent vision or a business plan. What they had was capability, ambition and a frustrating gap between the two. We started by anchoring everything to commercial outcomes, identifying where time was being lost, where decisions were inconsistent and where processes relied too heavily on individuals. We closed that gap with structure, not noise. The result was a client who could measure their own progress, celebrate genuine milestones and make decisions with confidence rather than instinct alone.
